As a result, the facilities for this shipping company, which also offers warehousing and distribution services, were designed to be highly energy efficient: green spaces account for nearly 25% of square footage; a white roof reduces the effects of heat islands; outdoor lighting limits light pollution; native plants are used instead of landscaping irrigation systems; and low VOC products provide staff with clean air.
