Strategically located in Laval, along Highway 13 and at the heart of an industrial sector undergoing a major transformation, Rivian’s new 28,000 sq. ft. facility combines high performance, sustainability, and modern design. The flagship project was designed in collaboration with DKA Architectes and built by Groupe Montoni.
Architecture and Concept The architectural concept stands out through a subtle dialogue between opacity and transparency:
- Monolithic upper volume: A sleek, textured black block that establishes a strong presence from the highway and serves as a backdrop for Rivian’s visual identity.
- Transparent lower base: A bright ground floor designed at a pedestrian scale to maximize accessibility.
- Glass showroom: Operating as an active showcase, the fully glazed showroom enlivens the facade day and night, highlighting the interior activity and the brand's reach.
- A delicate line of light marks the junction between these two volumes to emphasize their horizontality.
Performance and Sustainability Embodying the brand’s core values of innovation and environmental responsibility, the building is currently on track to achieve LEED v4 certification thanks to:
- The use of low-carbon materials.
- The deployment of sustainable mobility infrastructure, including Level 2 and Level 3 charging stations.
