Excavation Project Estimator Manager

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and estimating the cost of the workforce, equipment, materials and subcontractors for the execution of projects. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the head of the excavation division and take part in many projects alongside construction professionals.



  • Perform work site visits with the site manager and project manager
  • Create geotechnical and environmental reports
  • Effect the verification of the various construction plans available
  • Create quantity plans based on architectural plans
  • Create civil plans to issue a preliminary estimate
  • Create fill/excavation volume plans from topographical and civil plans, or from soil reports
  • Establish a complete list of CIVILS elements needed for the project, including installation needs
  • Proceed to the calculation of final costs based on analysis results
  • Create tenders and finalize them with the division head and project manager
  • Communicate with project managers, professionals and drafters when necessary, and prepare, in conjunction with them, the economic feasibility studies on the possible changes and adjustments to projects (costs, material resources, schedule, etc.)
  • Perform the calculation of quantities based on the quantity plan and the civil plan (transportation of stone, sand and earth; processing centre; provision centre)
  • Make the preliminary project quotes and prepare excavation budgets
  • Prepare the statements and projections of costs and expenses, at regular intervals, throughout the duration of the project
  • Prepare and update the index of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
  • Interpret the technical specifications in call for tender documents
  • Perform a comparison of price lists from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Any other related tasks



  • BAC or technical diploma in civil engineering or similar area
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the construction industry in a similar position
  • Understanding of the GEOMENSURA infrastructure software (an asset)
  • Understanding of AutoCAD software (an asset)
  • Understanding of TPL estimation software (Projects)
  • Excellent ability to realize projects within specified deadlines, according to established budgets and in conformity with all specifications and requirements, especially including regulatory requirements and environmental, health and safety standards
  • Excellent ability to influence, persuade and negotiate in such a way as to achieve desired results
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools
  • Bilingual (French and English)
  • Member of the OIQ (an asset)
